Lily is a lively nine-year-old with a big voice and an even bigger passion for music.
Lily is a lively and cheeky 9-year-old songbird who lives with congenital retinal dystrophy.
Lily discovered a love for music at an early age, so in April 2023 we took Lily and her mum Gemma to the Variety Braille Music Camp in Brisbane. The 4-daycamp offers multiple workshops in singing, song-writing, music using braille, playing instruments, even beatboxing workshops. Lily was the youngest of the 35participants.
Her confidence just grew over the short period she was there, and singing became her “thing”. She hasn’t stopped singing since. Lily is now rehearsing “Silent Night” to sing solo at the Variety Carols by Candlelight in front of 1400 people.
“I strongly believe that without Variety, Lily would never have found her passion for singing or the opportunities to perform and progress. The whole team at Variety believed in her and continue to believe in her.”

Change Takes All Of Us
Every child deserves the chance to explore, grow, and dream without limits. Their potential shouldn’t be defined by disability, illness, or financial hardship. We work to remove those barriers and open the doors to new possibilities.
